Abstract
The article discusses the failure of post-socialist societies to transform themselves into successful, modern capitalist societies from an anthropological point of view. It introduces a selection of relevant anthropological facts and arguments to show that the problems of postsocialist societies are connected with the fact that postsocialist societies did not practice the indigenization of modernization. For this reason, solutions that are successful in Western capitalist societies produce problems in post-socialist societies, even at times, crisis.
