Saša POLJAK ISTENIČ, Assistant



 

Saša Poljak Istenič was born in 1977 in Kranj. In 2002 she graduated in ethnology with her undergraduate thesis titled Množični mediji koroških Slovencev (Mass Media of the Carinthian Slovenes) and was presented with the Faculty of Arts’ Prešeren Award as well as the award of the Office for Slovenes across the Border and Around the World. She completed her traineeship at the Kočevje Regional Museum.

Since October 2003 she has been working as a research assistant at the ISE. She participates in the institute’s project “Ethnological Views and Images.” At the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology she is preparing a doctoral dissertation on the transformations of work customs in the countryside surrounding Ljubljana.

Research interests: customs, rituals, holidays, relations between the town and countryside, tourism, identity.
