Barbara IVANČIČ KUTIN, Dr., Research Fellow
Barbara Ivančič Kutin was born in 1973 in Šempeter pri Gorici. In 1998 she graduated in Slovenian language and literature as well as sociology of culture from Ljubljana's Faculty of Arts. After graduation she taught Slovenian at the Ledina Elementary School in Ljubljana. In December 1999 she started working as a research assistant at the Institute of Slovenian Ethnology. She conducts researches in oral tradition, especially folklore narrative as well as the circumstances and the execution of narration. In 2005 she received her doctoral degree at the Department of Slovenian Studies at Ljubljana's Faculty of Arts (advisor: Marija Stanonik) with a doctoral dissertation titled Kontekst in tekstura folklornih pripovedi na Bovškem (Context and Texture of Folklore Narratives in the Bovec Area). She is participating in the projects “Slovenian Proverbs and Sayings” and “Implementation of Information Technology in Ethnology and Folklore Studies,” and is collecting material for a differential dictionary of the Bovec dialect.
Research interests: literary folklore, oral tradition, folk stories, phonetic transcription, text, texture and context of folklore events.
